Two Whatcom County men are facing charges after being caught attempting to sell 91,000 fentanyl pills.
According to records filed in the case, Juan E. Hernandez-Hernandez and Alejandro Macias-Velazquez, who were arrested in July following an investigation, were importing bulk quantities of fentanyl pills into Whatcom County. Officials received information that the two men arranged for a delivery of the pills in Bellingham.
Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents observed Macias-Velazquez arrive at a Bellingham parking lot to deliver a duffle bag, which was later determined to be filled with around 10 kilograms of fentanyl concealed within cardboard boxes and potato chip containers, according to HSI. Both men were then arrested.
