Hendersonville man arrested after detectives find 16 pounds of fentanyl, other drugs

Rutherford County Sheriff’s detectives seized nearly 16 pounds of fentanyl as part of a Drug Enforcement Agency Task Force in Nashville.

The seizure was part of a three-month investigation into Carlos Batey, 44, of Hendersonville.

Batey used four locations to store, manufacture and distribute various types of narcotics, according to the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office.

While executing a search warrant, RCSO said detectives also found 21 kilos of heroin, four pounds of methamphetamine, 28 grams of cocaine, seven grams of crushed blue pills, 30 grams of blue fentanyl pills and five kilo presses, along with the fentanyl.

Detectives also seized several weapons during the search. 

Batey is charged with:

  • Possession with intent to sell more than 300 grams of methamphetamine
  • Possession with intent to sell more than 150 grams of Fentanyl
  • Possession with intent to sell more 299 grams of methamphetamine
  • Possession with intent to sell more than 150 grams of heroin
  • Possession of weapon by a convicted felon.
